Shortly after, the weather service warned people in Verdigris, a community southwest of Owasso, to take cover and later tweeted a likely tornado on the ground between Verdigris and Claremore, still moving east. The weather service then reported a tornado appeared to have touched ground in Claremore, a Tulsa suburb northeast of Verdigris.

Multiple buildings suffered damage, along with trees and downed power lines.
Police and fire officials were going door to door in the area.
At least seven people were injured in Owasso and northern Tulsa, with about one square mile of residential area sustaining damage from a tornado. At least one home was destroyed. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
“Nobody needs to die from a tornado if we can get the technologies fielded appropriately and this is critically important for the State of Oklahoma”, Bridenstine said. “We want to make sure people have the medicines they need”. Six others were listed in serious condition.
Luke Lau, who lives in Stone Canyon, near Tulsa, Okla., told the Tulsa World: “I was in the backyard taking pictures”.
Nearly the entire states of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia were under flash flood watches as of Thursday morning. Forecasters say more than 8 million people will be at an “enhanced” risk of severe weather in parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
“Heavy rain from waves of storms could renew flooding over north Louisiana”, said Cynthia Palmer, a forecaster at the weather service’s office in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Forecaster Latrice Maxie says 3 to 5 inches of rain fell late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning causing some evacuations and closing several highways.
In northern MS, forecasters said thunderstorms would bring rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches.
On Wednesday night, emergency crews near Little Rock, Arkansas, performed a high-water rescue for a woman whose vehicle was caught in floods.
In southern Mississippi, Alabama and western Florida, the National Weather Service said there was a significant threat of tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and large hail on Thursday from the storm system.
