Forget about the Steelers; Ravens turn focus toward Browns

November 08 23:53 2016

After the Ravens turned a Roethlisberger interception into a field goal for that 13-0 lead with 4:55 left in the third, the Steelers twice gave the ball twice to LeVeon Bell for minus-2 yards, and Roethlisberger threw incomplete to Brown on third down.

The Ravens, however, recovered and stunned Cleveland with 25 consecutive points en route to a 25-20 victory on September 18.

Pittsburgh is 4-4 and enters the second-half with no momentum. Through eight games, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati all have four losses.

Baltimore (4-4) moved into a tie atop the AFC North with the Steelers (4-4), who have dropped three in a row.

They didn’t in Baltimore on Sunday, when a torrent of flags set the tone in an ugly 21-14 setback that knocked Pittsburgh out of first place and left the locker room and the coaching staff mystified at how things have gone so wrong, so quickly. Harbaugh said Cleveland’s 0-9 record is not indicative of the talent on its team. “We have to get away from that”.

If Boswell gets another crack at the onside kick, at least he’ll have the comfort of knowing things can’t go much worse than they did in Week 9. “This team is very fat and happy, winning seven straight and off their most dominating win of the year”.

As we saw Sunday, backup center B.J. Finney also is dealing with some hand issues, so perhaps Pouncey’s status is less of an issue than what Finney is dealing with. But, we know he is fully capable of doing it right. “That’s what we have to focus on, is us”.

The Steelers claim to have the NFL’s best receiving corps but that depth has been tested in recent weeks.

There is no question that Smith is QB Joe Flacco’s go to receiver, especially on third down.

By then it was far too late and the Steelers fell to 12-14 on the road in games Roethlisberger has started since 2013.

For three quarters the game had been all Ravens. “I want to show everybody what they look like”.

While handling the Raven’s offense is nothing to brag about, the Steeler’s defense improved in many ways today.

Current starting running back Terrance West has averaged just 1.3 yards per carry over the last two games and hasn’t done anything noticeable in the passing game.

While rookie quarterback Dak Prescott looked good for the Dallas Cowboys, throwing three touchdowns in a 35-10 victory against the Browns, Cleveland’s Cody Kessler took a lot of hard hits in the second half after a fairly good first half. “They have done a great job that way”.

“Veteran teams, good teams, they don’t take steps back”, linebacker Terrell Suggs said. “I wanted to open the Steelers a 3.5-point home favorite, but was convinced that bettors would support the Cowboys at just 3, and boy did they ever”, he said.

Although Todd Haley has helped transform Pittsburgh’s offense in recent years, you can’t help but think this offense is now underperforming in 2016.

The division may be up for grabs, but it’s in an unusual position. When it’s all said and done, Bell will have three touchdowns on the day, fantasy football owners will be rather happy, and Pittsburgh could end up being 5-4 on the year.
