“Since we also have our citizens detained in the North. we are putting pressure on the North to free them through various channels”, he said, vowing “utmost efforts”.

CINCINNATI (AP) – An American college student who was released from a North Korean prison is finally home but in a coma and undergoing treatment at an OH hospital where he was taken shortly after arriving on USA soil.

His parents said he’s been in a coma for more than a year.

His parents told the Washington Post newspaper their son is in a coma and has been for over a year. “We want the world to know how we and our son have been brutalized and terrorized by the pariah regime in North Korea”.

“We thank you for the opportunity and blessing you’ve given us to serve your agenda and the American people”, said Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who reports suggest may be at risk of losing his job amid internal palace squabbles.

Warmbier’s release came as American retired professional basketball star Dennis Rodman started his five-day visit to the DPRK, a country he had visited four times before, raising speculation whether his non-official visit was connected with the release of the detained student.

Mr Warmbier’s parents, Fred and Cindy, have confirmed their son is in a coma and was being flown home to OH on a medevac flight. He said he is “just trying to open a door” on a mission that he thinks his former “Celebrity Apprentice” boss would support.

An airplane carrying Otto Warmbier, who is from OH, landed in Cincinnati late Tuesday night.

“The visit was the first time the United States was able to confirm Warmbier’s status after he was sentenced”, Fox News reported.

Warmbier’s release came as former U.S. basketball star Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea on Tuesday, returning to the nuclear-armed country where he met leader Kim Jong Un on previous visits. “Take care of Otto”, Trump is said to have instructed his top diplomat.

Warmbier was detained at Pyongyang airport while on his way home to the USA in January 2016.

The release of Otto Warmbier, 18 months into a 15-year sentence, came as US President Donald Trump invited South Korea’s new leader Moon Jae-In to Washington for talks on the nuclear standoff.

He had not been seen in public since. Sweden represents US diplomatic interests in North Korea.

The North Korean government claims that Warmbier contracted botulism – a rare and serious disease caused by food poisoning – during his detainment. The North Korean government told his parents that food poisoning was to blame.

City councilwoman Jenni McCauley said the tight-knit community was “thrilled” to have Warmbier back.

The logistics were in place by Thursday.

According to United States media, Fred and Cindy Warmbier, Otto’s parents, were told by North Korea officials that their son had suffered from botulism following his trial and fell into a coma after taking a sleeping pill. US officials in touch with Yun and medical personnel declined to say whether Warmbier remains in a coma or to make any comment on his current medical condition.

NORTH KOREA has released a 22-year-old college student arrested for alleged acts against the tyrannical regime – and he’s in a coma.

Warmbier is from the Cincinnati suburb Wyoming. In court the student was convicted of “crime against the state”.

Asked whether the United States wanted to see an Iran-style global embargo to deny exports of petroleum and other products to North Korea, Mr Tillerson said that this would only work if Russian Federation and China co-operated. He was serving a 15-year service for pinching a poster while on a student trip to North Korea.

More than half of US states have legalized medical marijuana and eight have voted to legalize it for recreational purposes, but it remains illegal under federal law.

His entourage includes Joseph Terwilliger, a professor who has accompanied Rodman on previous trips to North Korea.
