Former NY Knicks star Oakley arrested after Madison Square Garden altercation

Midway through the first quarter, play stopped as an incident occurred between Oakley and security. Former Knicks forward Charles Oakley was spotted shouting at Knicks owner James Dolan before he started shoving members of the responsive security team.

According to reports, Oakley was involved in an altercation in the stands near Knicks owner James Dolan.

The Twitter account of the team’s public relations office confirmed the incident, saying he acted in a “highly inappropriate manner and abusive manner”. Clippers coach Doc Rivers, who played with Oakley in NY, said the scene was “sad”.

Oakley, 53, played for the Knicks from 1988 to 1998 and helped them reach the NBA Finals in 1994. “But I could see him standing there, and I could see all the guards around him”, Rivers said. The Times noted that Oakley will probably be released on what’s called a desk appearance ticket with a court date. “If somebody goes out of their way after me, I’m coming after them, rules or no rules”.

If you told Oakley his team was bad, he’d spend 48 minutes out-rebounding you, say the most disrespectful things he could, and then leave.

Somehow Anthony seemed able to – as he would say in his trademarked phrase – stay Melo, while everything else around him seemed to be falling apart. I swear on my mother.

“That was sad. That was tough for me to watch”. When he persisted, he was asked to leave – then forced to leave. “I don’t think there’s necessarily good blood between him and the organization, from what I understand”.

According to Sports Illustrated, Oakley was handcuffed and said, “I didn’t do nothing! I’m still going to cheer for the Knicks”, he said, via ESPN. It also adds another layer of unpleasantness to a Knicks season in which they’re quickly falling out of the playoff picture while their best player and president feud.
