President Carter was fearless enough to teach his Sunday school class as always, even after his grandson’s passing.

Carter described Jeremy as “a very special child” who was preparing to transfer to a university to be closer to family.

The former US President’s grandson, Jeremy Carter, died just days before Christmas, while taking a nap after claiming he didn’t feel well. Carter added that when Jeremy’s mother went to check on him, the young man’s heart had stopped.

Mowell said he was notified of the death early Sunday. The cause of death is still unclear. His heart stopped shortly afterwards.

“‘I should be joyful and thankful to God for giving me both life and freedom,” he said. “He lives his life as a lesson for other people to see'”, the Journal Constitution quoted Williams as saying.

“President Carter was shaken”, Rev. Jeremy Shoulta told CNN.

Earlier this year, Carter, 90, revealed that he has cancer.

The political icon shared his heartbreaking loss while teaching Sunday school in his hometown of Plains, GA. “The church has done all it can to lift the Carters up during this hard time“.

Recently the former President said that treatments and radiation had worked and that he was cancer-free.
