Someone tossed a pair Molotov cocktails at the strip club Knicks forward Cleanthony Early had visited before being shot by masked men who demanded his “gold”, police say.
Cleanthony Early (left) was shot after leaving a strip club in what police call a coordinated attack. The men even stole gold caps for his teeth before shooting him in the right knee according to the police. His condition is unknown but the Knicks said in a statement the injuries are not life-threatening.
Early, 24, was also shot in the right knee during the stick-up and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The Knicks rookie caught a bad break, but he’s not the first National Basketball Association player to experience the perils of New York City nightlife this month.
The Uber driver was unharmed and only robbed of his identification, the official said.
Early has played in 10 games with the Knicks this season, averaging less than one point a game.
The suspects were reportedly in three other vehicles that boxed them in.
This is the second time in recent weeks that a Knick was robbed as Derrick Williams was robbed by two females of $60,000 worth of jewelry. “It’s good that everybody’s contributing and that was a good finish for us, ” Matthews said. He took home two women from a Manhattan club.
Early, who starred in college at Wichita State, was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft.
