“The choice that you have to make on Sunday must be a choice for the future”.

Trump also told AP that a tax reform package would be unveiled next week and would include a “massive tax cut” for businesses and individuals, “bigger I believe than any tax cut ever”, the President said.

Melenchon also wants to radically overhaul the European Union and hold a referendum on whether to leave the bloc.

French President Francois Hollande made a similar remark in 2012 when asked about the upcoming election between Obama and Mitt Romney, saying.

– How is the president elected?

The killing of a policeman in Paris has disrupted the French presidential race, as the two front runners traded barbs over the bloodshed.

The first round will send two of 11 candidates into a run-off vote in two weeks time to pick a new president for France, a core member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance, a permanent member of the United Nations Security council, and the world’s fifth largest economy.

The candidate of the struggling ruling Socialist Party, Benoit Hamon, already seems to be out of the race.

Macron said the far-right Front National (NF) leader Le Pen, with whom he is neck-and-neck in polling for the first-round vote, and Fillon – now in third place – were engaging in one-upmanship in their response to the attack.

It is unclear if the attack will affect the election’s other front-runner, Emmanuel Macron, who is considered a political novice.

April 4, 2017 – Firebrand leftist Jean-Luc Melenchon was found the most convincing performer by viewers of a televised debate among the 11 candidates, a snap poll showed, with Macron in second place. She was even sighted in Trump Tower in New York City during the president’s transition period, according to The Associated Press.

While some were quick to criticize Trump for implying in his tweet that a terror attack could impact the democratic process, analysts have warned that a last-minute event like a terror attack “could affect the final result” of the election, the Telegraph reported on Friday. Le Pen wants France to have better relations with Russian Federation and its president, Vladimir Putin.

“It is no secret that we will not be cheering madly should Sunday’s result produce a second round between Le Pen and Melenchon”, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said, adding that the election posed a risk to the global economy. Cheurfi never showed any sign of radicalization during his previous detention, Molins said. “It’s really the victory of the people against the elite”.

Although France has been battered by a series of terrorist attacks – most recently an attack last week in Paris, admitted by ISIL – security was not the main topic for the French election.

Former President Obama jumped into the fray on Thursday when he gave a call to Macron to wish him luck.

Macron’s team released a video recording of the call, a highly unusual move as conversations among different countries’ politicians are usually kept private.

Terrorism has also been a major campaign issue after a spate high-profile and deadly terror attacks in recent years.

Most polls indicates that Macron and Le Pen are the most likely to face off in the runoff on May 7, but no one can really predict as differences among voting intentions for the four remain narrow.

Le Pen also took to Twitter following the attack to criticize the government.
