December 25 11:45 2015

These forecasts are starting to shape up, as Google is said to be in talks with Ford Motor for the American automaker to build autonomous cars for the search company. The joint venture will essentially combine the strengths of the two companies, enabling them to bring self-driving cars on the road much faster.

The Google-Ford partnership is expected to be announced to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, to be held in Las Vegas, USA.

Rumors of Google wanting to develop its own autonomous auto date back to 2013, but it wasn’t until the past year that the company unveiled its first autonomous prototype.

Ford would benefit from the deal since Google has a wide expertise in self-driving technology. The officials at Google have confirmed that the self-driving astounding Google vehicle would be easily accessible in the market within five years and there are innumerable people that are working on this project to make it a reality.

“We keep these discussions private for obvious competitive reasons, and we do not comment on speculation”, Hall said.

Neither company would confirm the news to Yahoo, but there’s already a pretty strong connection between the two firms. The corporation has ramped up its self-driving car’s project over the year. The Alphabet company already has 53 test vehicles on the road, with an accumulated total of 1.3 million miles worth of data already logged. Google has said that it would accept responsibility if its self-driving cars were found to have been at fault in crashes, but Ford may not be ready to go there.

Google declined to comment on the speculation.

Google has paired together with Ford for building self-driving vehicles that incorporate Google’s technology.

It is being reported that the deal would result in a new joint venture that would be legally separate from Ford, shielding the automaker from potential liability.
