Google Photos to retire Picasa

Its new editing tools make it easier and faster to touch up multiple photos. Now you can jump between photos while remaining in editing mode, without losing the changes you made. Once updated, users will notice a navigation bar on the bottom side of the app, with shortcuts for Albums, Assistant, and Photos. The addition of these editing tools is believed to be connected to the company’s recent announcement that it would shutter its popular photo-editing and management app Picasa.

You also now get the option to chose an exact crop, and can choose from Original, Square, 4:3 and 16:9.

Users of Google Photos have just got more tools for editing their photos. However, Google announced it would be shuttering Picasa last month, as it will drift its focus to the new Google Photos service. You need to click on “Done” when you are completely ready with your edited picture or you can easily “Revert to Orginal”.

It is very much easier to edit Images from Google Photos as Google Upgrades its services that it can help users to edit images quickly.

For retouching images on smartphone, you can also test Snapseed or Adobe Photoshop Express Android.

Head of Google Photos Anil Sabharwal pointed out that, “As of March 15, 2016, we will no longer be supporting the Picasa desktop application”.

Today’s Wednesday, and on many Wednesdays, Google pushes out a nice Android app update or two. Google Photos for iOS will soon be updated with the same features.
