Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL October 4 Launch Confirmed

September 14 15:44 2017

Until now that is. Even so, it’s safe to assume that the “Ask more of your phone” slogan hints towards the upcoming Google PIxel 2 and Google Pixel XL 2. The Google Pixel 2 is now being manufactured by HTC, meanwhile the larger XL version will be made by LG.

Spotted by droid-life, the billboard doesn’t really reveal much except the “G” logo, October 4 date, and the tag line – “Ask more of your phone”. It is worth noting that Google past year also launched its Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 smartphones on October 4.

Keep your eyes peeled on October 4th for the Google announcement, but start saving those pennies now if you’re looking to upgrade.

Why doesn’t my phone understand me?

Last month, an FCC filing confirmed that the smaller Pixel 2, which is being manufactured by HTC, will have the same squeezable Active Edge sides found in the HTC U11.

Unlike the previous FCC Pixel 2 entry this one reveals very little. Coming to the specifications, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are expected to equipped with 4.95 and 5.99 inches QHD LG screen. The first being the Pixel 2, made by HTC, features a familiar design with big bezels like the original Pixel.

Google’s second-generation Pixel phones will be launching to stiff competition this year from Apple’s new iPhone X and iPhone 8, Samsung’s Galaxy S8, and LG’s V30 to name a few. And while the invite doesn’t specifically mention the new Pixel 2, that’s exactly what we expect to see. However, going by the model number it is safe to assume that this is indeed the gen-next Pixel smartphone from Google.

We’ll have more information in less than a mont, but based on the landing page and tagline, it seems like Google will be emphasizing its virtual Assistant again with this hardware revision.

Under the hood, the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel XL 2 will once again sport the current flagship chipset, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835. The Pixel 2’s G011 code name carries a continuation of last year’s Pixel codename.
