Panthers tight end Greg Olsen limped off the field in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Bills with what the Panthers called a foot injury.
According to the report from the Carolina Panthers’ official Youtube account, Olsen will miss at least the next month. After the game, an emotional Olsen confirmed fantasy owners and Panthers fans’ worst fears: he has a broken foot. He tried to go back in but knew something was wrong. When the Panthers came out of the tunnel to start the second half, Olsen was walking with crutches and sporting a walking boot. Olsen has largely been injury-free since 2007 and became the first tight end in National Football League history to have three-straight seasons with over 1,000 yards receiving previous year.
“He’s not going to take a rest day”, Rivera said Thursday. “Just the operations part, the execution part for him, we have to continue to work on it, push on him, press on him and keep holding him to his standards”. If Dickson can step up, then maybe he can help ignite the Panthers’ offense until the team gets their Pro Bowl tight end back. The coach likes third-stringer Chris Manhertz, too, although he wouldn’t rule out adding another tight end to the roster. McCaffrey could also be used as a weapon through the air, getting four catches for 34 yards against Buffalo, he could be thrown into the mix of receivers who see more action with Olsen gone.
Newton finished 20 of 32 for 228 yards passing and carried the ball five times for 27 yards. As we’re going right now, things are already shaking the way we want them to. So we had to pick it up and do the same thing to them that they were doing to our o-line.
“The only thing that he has to do now is heal“, Vermillion said. Ed is more than capable. What else is a coach staff going to say?
It was a tale of defensive prowess and offensive ineptitude for the Buffalo Bills in Sean McDermott‘s return to Carolina.
F Offensive line: Newton took six sacks and was hurried seven times as Buffalo’s pass-rush ran roughshod over Carolina’s line, disrupting the offense’s rhythm enormously, beginning in the second quarter. “He’s a diamond in the rough. We’re good. I’m good”. Against both the 49er’s and Bills, the Panthers weren’t able to capitalize on red zone opportunities where they should have scored touchdowns instead of having Graham Gano kick short field goals for a measly three points.
“I was running a route and I just stepped and I just fell”, Olsen said. “Offensively we need to make up for it”.
“We came out and swarmed all over them”, Addison said.
