Green shows range, leads Warriors past Jazz for 2-0 lead

Green and Curry each shot 5-for-8 on 3-pointers as the Warriors rebounded from a substandard effort from beyond the arc in Game 1 to connect on 14 of 31.

“I don’t know”, Thompson said. “I had it before”. It’s pretty much impossible to play catchup against Golden State, because their defense will eventually shut you down and their offense always finds a way to extend the gap. “You got to take advantage of them”.

“It wasn’t easy”, said Warriors coach Mike Brown – standing in for ailing head coach Steve Kerr.

Warriors: Golden State never trailed and all five starters scored in double digits for the second straight playoff game. Green led with 12 points. It’s not an unwise formula – the Jazz are simply playing the percentages.

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz will be feeling disappointed that they weren’t able to come away with a win, but they did do a great job of staying in the game despite trailing by as many as 20 points in the first quarter.

The final score also does not reflect Golden State’s failure to silence Gordon Hayward, who finished the night with 33 points on 11-21 field goals. Yet a combination of improved shooting from the Jazz and careless turnovers from the Warriors led to a 10-0 Utah run that created a much more manageable deficit.

Game 2 in the best-of-seven series is Thursday night back at Oracle Arena, where it was a night of nostalgia as Golden State honored its 2007 “We Believe” team that ended a 13-year playoff drought and stunned Dallas in the first round. Thursday would’ve been a winnable contest for Utah if they didn’t play such a terrible first quarter.

They need him now, though, or else suffer the same fate everyone else has been destined to against the Warriors. They did win the third quarter, as Snyder instructed, and the second half.

The Utah Jazz has failed to get a lead in 96 minutes against the Warriors. Game 3 was a nice step in the right direction, though. Over the course of the season, however, he has proven himself to be a valuable asset in Salt Lake City. “I think we need to play angry from the first minute”. “Hopefully, we can do that at home”. Spurs owner Julianna Hawn Holt rose from her courtside seat to point and scream at an official after Parker exited the game. “We want to try to be ahead at the end, and against these guys, if you don’t start well, you’re climbing an uphill battle”. You expect Thompson, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant to shoot well from long distance, but when Green is this potent from the perimeter, it adds another dimension to Golden State’s offense – which is already hard enough to stop as it is. He has missed the playoffs only one season of his career while a member of the Indiana Pacers. The 33-year-old is 0-for-17 from downtown to start the postseason, but he still impacting the game in so many other areas – disrupting passing lanes, guiding the team to play in an up-tempo pace, spacing the floor with such grace.

Dissing an opposing player or an opposing team or an opposing team’s city like Golden State players Matt Barnes and Andre Iguodala did earlier this week, is nothing new.
