According to the Associated Press, Paltrow also said she feared for her safety because some of the letters contained religious references and statements about her death.

He says news of Soiu’s writings always concerned the actress.

Soiu’s attorney claims that Paltrow misinterpreted the messages as threatening rather than just religious.

Abbott was the second witness in the trial, which resumes Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Hours after watching ex-husband Chris Martin and pal Beyoncé bring down the house at Super Bowl 50, Gwyneth Paltrow walked into a Los Angeles courtroom and gave chilling testimony in the trial of her accused stalker.

The current case focuses on Soiu’s recent messages to Paltrow.

The actress could not help but broke down a bit as she relayed the trauma Soiu subjected her through the years.

Paltrow told the court that she felt scared while at home with her children and had been forced to get an attack dog, capable of “attack” and “bite” commands, to protect herself and her family. He was sent to a mental institution instead, where he stayed for several years and then released.

Ugh, we hate this for Gwyneth Paltrow!! It has also been revealed that Soiu’s letters threatened to use a scalpel “to cut out sin” in her body, and authorities reportedly accused the defendant of making “threats of a sexual nature”. He was already sued in 2000 and was found not guilty because he was deemed insane.

The Oscar-winner was the first witness called and authenticated 48 of the letters, many of which contain religious messages and statements referencing Paltrow’s death.

Paltrow admitted that she found it very troubling.

Paltrow told the court the letters made her “very upset”.

“You are hopelessly lost”, he wrote to Paltrow in a 2010 letter.

Gwyneth Paltrow took the stand on Monday against a man who has been stalking her for 17 years.

The recent batch of letters described Soiu’s intention to marry the actress as well as a pair of earrings he sent her in 2009 as a Christmas gift, some second-hand clothes and a Weight Watchers cookbook.

Testifying in the trial of Dante Michael Soiu, 66, Paltrow said she has “been dealing with this for 17 years” and feared for her safety and her children’s safety.

In defence, Lynda Westlund, Mr Soiu’s lawyer, said her client was harmless.

Deputy District Attorney Wendy Segall said that Soiu has shattered the mother-of-two’s sense of security.

Soiu pleaded insanity when he faced trial in 2000 in another stalking case against Paltrow. He spent three years in a psychiatric facility, but was re-arrested in 2015 after sending more letters to her.
