Honor 8 Pro premium smartphone

Huawei’s budget-friendly Honor brand has announced the latest phone in its flagship line – the Honor 8 Pro.

Like the Mate 9 and the P10, the Honor 8 Pro boasts a Kirin 960 8-core processor (4 clocked at 2.4 GHz, 4 to 1.8 GHz). As of the storage, the 8 Pro has 64GB of internal storage and supports microSD card of up to 128GB. As for the camera department, the Honor 8 Pro will be continuing with the same 12MP + 12MP dual camera setup as seen on the Honor 8.

Huawei has expanded its Honor portfolio with the launch of Honor 8 Pro smartphone. In moderate use, it can even last for two full days on a single charge.

Pre-orders for the Honor 8 Pro start from today in Europe at the company’s vMall store or via Amazon from 20 April. The Honor 8 Pro packs two 12MP sensors on its rear, one monochrome and one RGB, that the firm claims provides DSLR-like depth of field effects for both photo and video shooting.

The Honor 8 Pro will retail for £479.99 (that’s quite a lot for an Honor, which are usually in the £2-300 range) and is kind of a flagship of a flagship: a premium version of the existing Honor 8. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. If you are watching the pennies but love big phones, the Honor 8 Pro could be the one for you. Inside the phone’s box is a built-in Google Cardboard VR headset, that’s specifically created to work with the latest Honor phone. Thankfully, the Huawei Honor 8 Pro is not just another pretty face. The device’s chipset unsurprisingly comes from Huawei’s HiSilicon branch and is the Kirin 960. How does this 12-megapixel mobile snapper compare to the original Honor 8’s camera and what bonus features do you have to play with? It also bears 8megapixel front-facing camera for video chats and selfies with 77° wide angle lens. If you’ve been paying attention, this is the same phone that has been reported on since February, but at that time, we suspected the device would be unveiled at MWC. The fingerprint sensor rests below the camera at the rear.

Android 7.0 Nougat is augmented with Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 overlay, a skin that offers plenty of additional functionality over native Android but which tends to divide user opinion.
