This is created to bring your device closer to you, learning about how you use your phone and helping with things like battery and storage management, right through to restaurant suggestions or finding your favourite contacts first. However, unlike Apple, owners will have to buy an adapter dongle to use their existing 3.5mm jack headphones whereas Apple offers one for free. With rumours swirling that Samsung’s Galaxy S8 will also do away with the port, it seems the sun really is setting on something that’s been a fixture of electrical and electronic gadgets for decades. If private listening is more your thing, HTC USonic promises to analyze your ear canals with special, USB-C headphones that ping out a sonar-like pulse and then tune the EQ to best suit them. This means you’ll get some handsome reflections in the right light on your new HTC smartphone, but how will it feel in your hand on a hot day or lots of typing away on social media and texts?
The HTC U Play is a smaller variant, without a secondary display.
Display And Platform. The HTC X10 will feature a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution. The 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 423ppi, display looks nice enough, and is a reasonable resolution. Over time, as the platform learns user behaviour, the alerts will show what interests you more and push down those which are not that relevant. Pithy marketing slogans aside, HTC’s new direction brings with it some intriguing features.
A spokeswoman for the company confirmed the AI assistant uses HTC’s “own in-built AI software“, but added it is also compatible with Google Now.
Both handsets come with HTC’s new voice-activated personal assistant, Sense Companion, which can do everything from recommend you wear warmer clothes when cold weather is forecast to reminding you your battery is low, or even recommending a restaurant.
So you don’t have to worry about it accidentally ordering a doll’s house from Amazon, after responding to what it thought was a voice command from your TV.
One such phone is the HTC U Ultra, a phone that goes by the codename HTC Ocean Note.
The harsh aluminium chassis of the HTC 10 has gone, with the U Ultra sporting a curved glass structure with “liquid surface”, which means it looks like water. In the camera department, it has a 16-megapixel rear shooter and the same 16-megapixel on the front for your selfies and video chats. The Play features a 16-MP rear camera and runs on a MediaTek Helio P10 CPU, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. A new set of leaked images of what is believed to be the upcoming HTC U Ultra has been released. The U Ultra is seen to be sporting a secondary display, as seen on LG V20, in these images. We are most definitely dealing with Gorilla Glass here; HTC shared its plans to launch an exclusive sapphire glass edition of the HTC U Ultra later this year, but we somewhat doubt it that the smaller U Play will have a similar faith.
Still, we haven’t had the chance to spend a lot of time with this phone, so there’s a lot of conditions we’ve not tested the display in. Furthermore, the U Ultra takes some cues from LG’s V series and includes a secondary 2-inch 160 x 1040 Super LCD panel on the top for displaying notifications, shortcuts, what have you.
