Honor India will launch its budget smartphone, dubbed as the Honor 7C in India on May 22.
Huawei sub-brand Honor has announced price and availability details of Honor 10 at a presser in London. The glitzy “Phantom Blue” finish looks utterly gorgeous in the flesh, and looks more than a little like Samsung’s Galaxy S9 if you squint. And the Honor 10 CMF design, a 3D glass back with a stunning nano-scale optical coating composed of 15 layers of shimmering color.
If you’re looking to buy the Honor 10 SIM-free, there are several options. The dual-cameras are AI-powered feature an LED flash, PDAF and f/1.8 aperture. The glass back also means that the Honor 10 will be a smudge and dust magnet.
The phone with advanced AI capabilities borrows a lot from the company’s flagship P20 series and is built around a metal frame, with glass front and back. It also comes with 3D’Portrait Lighting’ feature. Android 8.1 Oreo with the company’s own EMUI 8.1 on top rounds up the pretty package. The Honor 10 sports really thin bezels, and it comes with the most powerful processor Huawei has to offer at the moment, the Kirin 970. The display has 2.5D glass. The phone is said to come with a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 resolution.
Coming to the cameras of Honor 10.
Under the hood, the device is fueled by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz along with Adreno 506 GPU.
The Honor 10 isn’t the only Huawei phone to cram in such a solution. For Honor’s offering, you’ll only be paying around $540 (€449), and that gets you 128GB of storage.
For shooters, there is a dual rear camera setup that has a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor, paired with an autofocus lens that has an f/2.2 aperture. It, however, misses out on an OIS sensor unlike a number of its main competitors. Optical image stabilization (OIS) is absent. Honor also mentions an industry first Semantic Image Segmentation tech on this device which can “identify multiple objects in one single image”. It will also include an 8MP front-facing camera. We’ve seen this on phones like the Pixel XL’s portrait mode, where the AI is used to pick out the subject from the photo and blur the background.
The Honor 10 shares the design similar to the Huawei P20 and has been launched five months after the launch of the Honor View 10. It has fast charging support via 5V/4.5A Huawei Super Charge. The all-new smartphone is the successor of the last year’s Honor 9 and shares a number of design cues from its predecessor. It’s available in four colors – phantom blue, phantom green, midnight black, and glacier grey.
The Honor 10 will be available at INR 32,999 for purchase at exclusively on Flipkart. It has 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage space. In the United Kingdom, it will be available for £400. In India, it has entered the top five smartphone brands with 146 per cent growth in Q1 2018 ending March 2018.
