Hundreds Arrested in US Immigration Enforcement Raids

Immigration authorities in the USA conducted a series of raids across at least six states this week, arresting hundreds of undocumented residents. ICE has denied those claims.

Preliminary reports from southern California give an indication of the scope of the ICE operations. And he joins us now to help answer the question of exactly what’s going on. Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher told the television station that all of those detained had prior criminal arrests or convictions.

“These reports create panic and put communities and law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger”, ICE said. “I think this will become the new normal for a while”. During the operation carried out under the Obama Administration, more than 2,000 criminal aliens were rounded up for deportation in the five-day Operation Cross Check. ICE released a statement Friday stating the arrest took place over a mile from the school. “Now I’ve got to go ahead and calm people’s fears”.

City Hall officials are reminding New Yorkers that city officials and members of the NYPD will never ask about their immigration status. Those with outstanding deportation orders or who have returned to the United States illegally after being deported “are subject to immediate removal from the country”, ICE said.
