In Georgia, Handel thanks Trump and reaches out to Democrats

Democrats threw tens of millions at Jon Ossoff, their 30-year-old newbie candidate, documentary filmmaker and former congressional aide who lives outside of Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District.

Those Republicans chose their comfort level with their party and a candidate in Karen Handel, who is a known quantity, over someone with little experience who didn’t even live in the district in Jon Ossoff.

He explained that Democrats will likely continue to be demoralized after the national party spent years intentionally not wanting to win elections. “It’s time for a new generation of leadership”.

Pelosi says the Democratic base is energized, adding, “We must now put forth our message”. Gerrymandering GOP officials across the country have left so few districts in play that to succeed, Democrats must win over Republicans in places like Kansas’ 3rd District, which is now represented by Kevin Yoder.

Democrats also lost a special election in neighboring SC on Tuesday, where Republican Ralph Norman easily prevailed over Democrat Archie Parnell in a seat formerly held by Republican Mick Mulvaney, who is now serving as Trump’s budget director. There have been more legitimately stunning victories and defeats in the past, especially during primaries when candidates within the same party are battling for the nomination.

“Harry Truman said it best, if you want to be Republican-lite, people will vote for the real thing every time”, Nolan told reporters.

“A Republican wins in Georgia it shouldn’t be breaking news”, Lemon remarked.
