Injustice 2 announced for PS4, Xbox One

June 08 23:00 2016

Injustice 2 is on the way, set for additional Bats v. Supes action in 2017. And that makes sense: The game comes from the developers behind “Mortal Kombat“, NetherRealm Studios. Players will also be given the chance to customize every aspect of their character, from appearance to fighting styles, in a variety of different modes being introduced.

Details are scarce at the moment, but we do know the story will once again see Batman and co. working towards restoring order, and attempting to stop those who would attempt to restore the oppressive Superman regime. However, a new threat appears that will threaten the very existence of Earth itself.

For starters, the game features the biggest DC roster ever in a fighting game, including Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, and Atrocitus, as well as the usual suspects. Some of the locations will include Gotham City, Atlantis, and Metropolis. Interactive Entertainment announcement came soon after. This time, NetherRealm has new characters to introduce as well as a brand new RPG-like Gear System.

Now, a new trailer announcing the arrival and release date of the game’s sequel, Injustice 2, reveals that these superheroes and supervillains are still battling it out. “NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customising and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way”. Some may breathe a sigh of as Warner Bros. Superman begins a dictatorship, and Batman leads a group of rebel forces, causing DC’s greatest heroes and villains to take sides.

Look for more on Injustice 2 at E3 2016 next week, and look for the game itself sometime next year.

The game, which was well-received by fans and critics alike, also inspired a comic book series of the same name at DC Comics.
