Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders released a new campaign ad Thursday aimed at foreign policy.
Sanders has been working to expand his support among the black and La3tino voters, who make up a significant part of the Democratic party.
“I was somewhat confused when Senator Sanders said well you know Planned Parenthood and Human Rights Campaign, they’re part of the establishment“, Clinton told a crowd of 500 in Burlington, Iowa, referring to a cable news interview Bernie Sanders gave Tuesday night.
Sanders leads former USA secretary of state Hillary Clinton, 50 percent to 41 percent, in the survey.
At these last stops across Iowa before the caucuses, flanked by her campaign’s signature “Fighting For Us” signs, Clinton has taken to naming the men and women she’s met in her nine months on the campaign trail, people who’ve shared their problems and need urgent, pragmatic solutions, she says. “But when he does it raises concerns because sometimes it can sound like he hasn’t really thought it through”, Clinton said in Indianola.
Clinton acknowledged that while she and Sanders “share numerous same goals” they have “different records and different ideas on how to drive progress”. Clinton’s team will hope an impressive performance days before the Iowa vote will boost her poll numbers enough to overcome Sanders’ momentum.
Clinton has been hammering Sanders on a few specific issues in an effort to draw distinctions and peel away some of his support.
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. “It is tough”, Clinton said about the race. Sanders’ campaign bristled at the comment.
As Sanders shot into the lead Clinton sought to turn his “establishment” attack right back on him-saying he served in Washington much longer than she did.
She had a commanding lead over her nearest Democratic rival Sanders in Iowa until December.
Hillary can talk the talk about income inequality and produce TV ads assuring us she is on the little guy’s side, but this simply doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
There was also a big swing on who voters trusted most on specific issues.
“We have differences and it is that time in the campaign when he’s making contrast and I am as well”, Clinton said.
Of Sanders’ universal healthcare proposal, she said that while it was great “in theory”, it wouldn’t be able to pass through Congress and would create a “divisive debate” that would end in gridlock. But it – I think it’s only going to be very limited shelf life.
