Is This How Kylo Ren Got Darth Vader’s Helmet?

December 31 10:35 2015

When last we saw it, it was being burned by Luke Skywalker at the end of Return of the Jedi.

The Force Awakens never explains how Kylo Ren got his mitts on Grandpa Vader’s helmet, but some fans believe the answer can be found in Delilah S. Dawson’s Journey to The Force Awakens story The Perfect Weapon.

This is all speculation, but it’s the best theory yet for how Kylo Ren obtained the helmet.

Of all of the mysteries swirling in the cultural ether nowadays about the various characters and plots in J.J. Abrams “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, there is one question that we may already have an answer to, and might have had the answer for quite some time. Darth Vader was my favorite Star Wars character for years and years. A mysterious client uses, as they say, Mission: Impossible-style tactics (a droid that self destructs) to hire her to retrieve an equally mysterious package from a psychological hospital that used to be the home for burnt out stormtroopers.

Several of the other tweets made fun of Kylo’s long dark locks as the old emo scene referred to in the name was largely based on hair. Although far from confirmed, it’s reasonable to assume it’s possible that this package was Darth Vader’s helmet.

Despite some minor plot holes and a few too many callbacks to the original trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a fantastic introduction to the future of the franchise. While I really enjoyed the movie as a whole, I wasn’t a huge fan of the angsty villain.
