Israel army: 3 Palestinians killed after attacking soldiers

The compound is located south of a junction in the West Bank that has been the scene to multiple attacks by Palestinians.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the two men were dead.

The Israeli army alleged the men had tried to stab soldiers manning the checkpoint, but witnesses said they did not see the pair wielding knives.

New deals to sell the rights in Hungary, Spain and Brazil have been discussed, while publication in the US, France and other countries where translation deals had already been agreed will be sped up, the agent said.

A military spokeswoman, asked about the taxi driver’s account, said the incident was still being reviewed. At the same time, 146 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, most while carrying out attacks.

A wave of violence over the past four months in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem has created a volatile atmosphere among Israelis and Palestinians. That number will rise if authorities deem a January 1 Tel Aviv shooting that killed three people as a pro-Palestinian attack.

Since October 2015, almost 150 Palestinians, including children and women, have been killed in the clashes with Israelis.

The bloodshed has raised fear of wider escalation a decade after the last Palestinian uprising, or intifada, subsided.
