Netflix has finally broken their silence and confirmed that the Gilmore Girls revival is actually happening. So far only Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Keiko Agena (Lane), Sean Gunn (Kirk), and Scott Patterson (Luke) are set in stone.
The original production team, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino and Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions have all signed on to reboot the WB/CW show, assuring a final series that is sure to please their devoted fan base.
The streaming service said it has not been determined exactly when the new episodes will premiere or how many episodes will be produced.
Girls star Lauren Graham, who played Lorelei on the popular WB-CW series, confirmed rumors of a revival Friday via Twitter. Following months of speculation, Netflix is officially reviving Gilmore Girls, the company and Warner Bros.
The original show, which ran from 2000-2007, starred Graham and Bledel, as mother and daughter Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, and followed their lives and loves while living in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. While production begins early February, there is no word yet on when the four new episodes will be released on Netflix.
Netflix ordered a continuation of the 1990s ABC series “Full House” with a new title, “Fuller House” in April. It is unlikely that Melissa McCarthy (Sookie), who has since become a major movie star, will return.
