Jalen Hurts’ favorite part of Peach Bowl? Eating Popeyes

Maybe with a win over undefeated and top-ranked Alabama, the Huskies’ defensive backs could head back to Seattle, and then on to Tampa, with a nickname of their own.

Alabama is in search of its second National Championship in a row and fourth in the last six seasons. En route to winning the national championship a year ago, Alabama coach Nick Saban said there was a “significant difference” with how his team prepared last year compared to two years ago.

Washington football linebackers coach Bob Gregory works with his players during Washington’s Peach Bowl football practice, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at Georgia State in Atlanta, Ga. And the Tide didn’t like that some of their defenders struggled to keep up.

“With a lot of teams, you look at them, you go OK, where do we attack here?”, UW linebacker Keishawn Berriera said.

“You get your name engraved on it”, he said. You have to lose it so you can maintain your explosiveness. “I don’t know why they come in bunches”.

The Huskies put defensive players through a five-minute circuit – a series of different drills – almost every day in practice, Kwiatkowski said, to “keep guys thinking about turnovers and how important they are”.

Alabama has the nation’s most dominant, most productive and most statistically imposing defense. But it certainly didn’t hurt.

For Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster and friends, the bar has been set. Every year, we emphasize turnovers, and every year, the offense emphasizes holding onto the ball.

Hurts’ Alabama teammates often get a firsthand view of the extra attention their young quarterback draws when they’re out on a rare free evening. Clemson’s Deshaun Watson is seventh in TD passes with 37 and ninth in completion percentage at 67.6, and none of Alabama’s opposing starters finished higher in either category.

“She played a big part”.

“There’s no comparison”, Pruitt said.

What stands out immediately about these running backs is their size, which I did not list above for the sake of not scaring the children.

“I had that conversation with my dad after the A-Day game”, Hurts said. She knows I’m a mama’s boy, so if I don’t fix my plate, I won’t eat it.

“That was cute to me”, Hurts said with a smile.

That trust is going to be paramount for the Huskies defense in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday (3 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN App) against No. 1 Alabama and freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has the ability to test defensive backs by extending plays with his feet. On top of history is hype, the unremitting hype about this Crimson Tide being “the best team in college football history”.

“We always want them to enjoy and appreciate the moment”, Petersen said. “That will definitely be the toughest challenge we’ve seen so far”. Senior slot receiver Gehrig Dieter is the main weapon here, and while he only has 14 catches this year, he’s turned them into 4 TDs. (Jake) Browning is a very athletic quarterback who can move in the pocket and extend plays. They are fast and mean and without weakness. “He does a great job just making sure we stay calm and just stay the course”. You have to go 1-0 or you’re out.

This season, the pass game is a bit simplified due to having a true freshman QB who is limited as a passer right now, and the success of the run game. “He knows when to get out of the pocket when he has to”. Those things really aren’t going to change.

“After players have had practice and films and meetings and everything, we’re going to give them a little levity with these events”, Stokan said.
