Jim Irsay stops caring, names Rob Chudzinski as Colts Offensive Coordinator

The Colts basically copied, or rather Pagano brought with him, the same defensive scheme that the Ravens have been using for years.

The Colts announced Thursday that Chudzinski will remain the offensive coordinator going forward after assuming the reigns from a fired Pep Hamilton in early November. Overall, the Colts are the oldest team in the NFL.

Before joining the Colts in 2014, Chudzinski was one of the many victims of the revolving door that the Cleveland Browns head coaching position has become. His name was in the discussion of taking over defensive duties in Indianapolis when Greg Manusky was relieved of his duties this week, according to Alper.

Andrew Luck has already worked with three coordinators in his first four years in the league, and keeping Chudzinski means he won’t be working with a fourth. Each threw a touchdown pass in the Colts’ season-ending victory over Tennessee, a win that may have saved Pagano’s job.

The decision reunites Monachino with Chuck Pagano. The Ravens have consistently produced a strong defense year-in and year-out, and Indianapolis has been in need of an upgrade on their defensive side of the ball for quite some time. He also called Monachino a “great motivator”. He started his coaching career at two high schools in Missouri.
