Joe Biden, Lady Gaga get on Oscars stage for a cause

The show marked her very first Oscar nomination, and she also performed an emotional rendition of “Til It Happens to You“, after an introduction by her “friend” Vice President Joe Biden.

Brie Larson proved that she was a class act during the 2016 Academy Awards on Sunday night.

The event will be an opportunity for 73-year-old Biden to promote the It’s On Us campaign against sexual assault, which was launched on September by Barack Obama’s administration. But the awkward juxtaposition where the Vice President of the United States puts out a call to end sexual assault when introducing Lady Gaga and then having a James Bond theme take the Oscar just minutes afterward… He thanked the crowd and said: “I’m the least qualified man here tonight”.

Gaga had previously revealed in December 2014 that she herself was abused by a music industry colleague, when she was 19. He was invited to speak at the Oscars to introduce Lady Gaga for a performance backdropped by a choir of sexual assault survivors.

Instagram “ladygagaI never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like my body was ruined by my abuser. THAT’S a real man”.

Finally, after the film, Spotlight, upset The Revenant to win Best Picture, producer Michael Sugar continued to draw attention to sexual abuse in his acceptance speech. “People all over the world that have suffered with any kind of pain or trauma, (if) they are having trouble being fearless, this song is for them”, she said. “Pope Francis, it’s time to protect the children and restore the faith”.
