Johnny Manziel being investigated following altercation

They spoke to Manziel’s ex-girlfriend, who described a possible disturbance between the two earlier in the night in nearby Dallas.

Manziel’s ex-girlfriend also told Fort Worth officers that she was concerned for his “well-being”. She was uncooperative with officers, police said, and the Dallas police department was notified the incident occurred in its jurisdiction.

Police were called over a possible assault with regards to Johnny Manziel, according to a department press release.

The preliminary investigation came to the conclusion that a possible assault had occurred in that jurisdiction or multiple jurisdictions.

The Browns had no comment as of yet. NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said the league is “aware and looking into it”.

The Star Telegram detailed that, in 2012, Manziel burst onto the national scene while quarterbacking the Texas A&M Aggies and became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

Manziel was not arrested as a result of the October incident, and the National Football League ultimately cleared him of domestic abuse stemming from the altercation. The woman claimed Manziel hit her several times to prevent her from getting out of the vehicle, while downplaying the incident.

As of Friday, new coach Hue Jackson had not yet been in contact with Manziel. Although the owner of the Browns believes the quarterback’s relationship with the team is fixable, it may be too late for Manziel to redeem himself.

Manziel and his handlers can continue to try and brush the issues under the rug, but eventually the troubled player will run out of lives in Cleveland.

Earlier this week, Haslam was asked about Manziel’s standing with the Browns. The Browns were disappointed when the second-year quarterback, who was taken with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2013 draft, missed a scheduled medical treatment on the final day of the season. “… I think what we need to do is look to the future and find what we think is going to be the best fit for us and go from there”.

“I think what you do is you start to build a team through the right vision”.

A little over a month later, Manziel was ruled out of the team’s season finale with a concussion and did not attend the game. Word had spread through social media that Manziel had been spotted in a Las Vegas casino the previous night.
