Jose Aldo breaks silence after crushing Conor McGregor defeat

The rematch itself is very hard to do right now as “Notorious” is planning to move up to challenge the Lightweight champion and Frankie Edgar just earned himself a ticket to fight for the Featherweight title.

While acknowledging making 145 pounds was tough, he rejected the idea of giving up one belt to fight for another. Aldo, for his part, quickly called for a rematch. Anchored by a pair of title fights, the event saw the crowning of two new champions as both featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo and middleweight top dog Chris Weidman fell to their challengers.

Conor McGregor made waves, as he’s been prone to do last night, scoring a massive 13-second victory over Jose Aldo at UFC 194. It was the first time Aldo have been defeated in over a decade and the quickest title fight in UFC history.

Barring a comeback, the Brazilian’s career may now be summed up in a Vine.

Asked for his assessment of the fight, McGregor said: “I did say the right hand would be his downfall, I felt he would tense his body, he’d load the right hand, overextend and I’d kind of catch him”. But right now such is not in his hands. “I said I would do it. And I will do it”.

‘I will have one belt on one shoulder and one on the other. I feel I’ve earned the right to make decisions on this, so I’ll see what way it forms. Aldo was previously the only champion the division had ever known. I wish him well, but now we are on to the next chapter. With a lot of fans expecting an action-packed tiff, the ideal and precision timing that McGregor landed on Aldo was something no one had expected. His movement is silky smooth. However, after a post-fight conversation with John Kavanagh, McGregor’s coach at SBG Ireland, White was also under the impression that such a move would be permanent.

Now, with a bumper contract and blockbuster fights coming at him from every angle, McGregor finally has the stardom and success that he’s always craved. “Obviously, if that happened you’d probably do Edgar vs. Jose Aldo for the title”.
