In need of aid in their injury-depleted backfield, the Green Bay Packers have made a significant midseason addition. But in the very least, it gives us an idea where the Packers could be drafting in each round, especially if they continue down this road of mediocrity.

The defense, which started off the season tremendously, has fallen down the past three weeks, giving up a combined 111 points to the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. “Obviously, you’d love to have some balance, but, at this point in the season, it comes down to winning football games”. With Rodgers, is throwing the football repeatedly the way to go?

Green Bay is without their starting running back Eddie Lacy, and backup James Starks has missed the last several games. But the Packers do want to have some semblance of a running game going forward. In the first and third quarters, however, the Skins defense limited the Packers to just one touchdown.

The Redskins had won four in a row and the Packers had lost two in a row.

Green Bay’s pass defense, on the other hand, ranks 29th in opponent passer rating. Rodgers is the only player on the Packers’ roster with a rushing touchdown this season.

“At the end of the day as far as how you go about it you want to get those 1-on-1 opportunities, but when you do you’ve got to win. You can say all the right things and be as prepared as possible, but it comes down to executing when you get out there”. Largely, the unit is playing well, particularly in the second half of games. The Packers offensive line is probably an upgrade from the Seahawks, so if Michael can get something going in his first game it could be huge for the Packers.

Entering last year’s National Football League playoff game against Washington, the Green Bay Packers lost two games in a row and faced questions about whether their run of dominance was over. Seven of Washington’s last eight games have been decided by a touchdown or less, including last Sunday’s hard-fought 26-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

There is no way that Aaron Rodgers will lead the Packers to victory.
