Klopp’s Liverpool stumbles again as Hull wins 2-0 in EPL

February 05 07:35 2017

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane celebrates scoring his side’s first goal of the game during the Premier League match at Goodison Park, Liverpool.

Liverpool continued their miserable form in 2017 suffering another defeat at the hands of Hull City.

If they reverberate around the KCOM Stadium today, they will do so in a packed arena.

It’d be expected that Mane is to make his full return for Liverpool against Saturday’s opposition, which I’m sure will strike fear into Hull minds.

Klopp said Liverpool “showed it a few times” but acknowledged “obviously” it was “long ago” that they “showed it consistently”, calling it the first thing of all that his team “have to change, immediately”. Unfortunately, we weren’t and that allowed them back into the game, and that was poor from us.

Klopp could not find words to explain why the Reds are unbeaten against their rivals at the top of the table, but crumble against teams fighting at the bottom.

“The Champions League is a big, big target but it is so hard because there are so many challengers”, he said.

Hull City and Swansea have improved tremendously after appointing new managers.

It was always a terrific opportunity that he could never pass up with his enthusiasm not dimmed by the Tigers’ shortcomings either. It is a fantastic competition.

This will be a tough game for Man United especially since Leicester will want to bounce back after losing three league games in a row but I am tipping three points for Mourinho’s men tomorrow in what promises to be a fiery encounter. It’s not acceptable. I have a few thoughts right now but I can not say them. Though Tottenham will be disappointed that they were unable to convert some of the good chances they had, Sunderland will come away with confidence after their strong defensive display. It is important that we play with this spirit and this attitude.

While an admirer of Klopp and his ability to carry a club, Carragher believes the German has put too much faith in his famed “gegenpressing” approach – even when performances have required a tactical tweak.

“We didn’t show the right mood”.

“If all the people believe it is possible we can change”. It is one challenge I had in my mind; when you start as a coach you have these challenges in your mind.

Bournemouth started the second half on a better note and made it 3-2 with 20 minutes left.

Hull were brilliant. So well organised. “We will do everything to get back to that level and play the football we played”. “You learn a lot about players in situations like this”.

After Alfred N’Diaye capitalised on a Simon Mignolet mistake to give Marco Silva’s team the lead against Liverpool, Niasse struck late on to earn all three points.

Marco Silva urged Hull's players to share his faith that they can retain their top-flight status
