Los Angeles Lakers forward Kobe Bryant, left, passes the ball as New Orleans Pelicans forward Dante Cunningham defends during the first half of an NBA basketball game, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant left Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans with a sore right Achilles and did not return.
Scott said he isn’t sure if Bryant will play Thursday against the Warriors in what would be his final game in Oakland. “If he wants to play, I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘No, you can’t play, ‘ especially when I know he’s able and willing to go out and play”.
“We’re talking about a living legend”, said Livingston, who had a terrific second half. It’s admirable of him, but my responsibility is that he can play this season. Curry is already considered to be the best shooter of all-time by many and could be working toward a legacy that puts him in the same category as Bryant when it is all said and done for the 27-year-old.
Bryant is not typically a nostalgic type, but he acknowledged enjoying his farewell tour. “We’ve just got to be proud of the way we’re growing”.
“There was a flurry of phone calls a couple of weeks ago, most of which I initiated”, he said.
In 16 minutes, Bryant finished with seven points on 3-of-9 shooting, missing all five of his 3-point attempts. Guard Lou Williams was unable to come close to matching his career-best 44-point effort against Oklahoma City on Friday as he suffered through a 5-of-17 shooting night while scoring 18 points.
All three of their losses have come on the road so far this season too so even disregarding the respective positions of the teams on the Western Conference table they’ve got good reason to believe they can bounce back as they host this fixture.
“I thought Grant Hill defended him as well as you possibly could”.
Per Scott, Bryant will be a game-time decision. “We let him get to the rim”. “We did a year ago, and it was pretty much the same team”. If that’s the case, I’ll wait until (tonight) to see how he feels.
Stephen Curry scored a game-high 26 points as the Warriors (37-3) improved to 19-0 at home this season, lifting their home win streak to 37 dating back to last season.
But after the late third-quarter burst, Curry didn’t play in the fourth quarter – nor did Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut or Green – as the Warriors tried to conserve as much star power as possible heading into a tough three-game trip to Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago beginning Saturday.
