LA Clippers Trade Josh Smith Back To Houston Rockets

January 22 22:00 2016

Depth was a problem that the Los Angeles Clippers aimed to fix last offseason, particularly with the signings of Josh Smith and Lance Stephenson.

The Houston Rockets have re-acquired Los Angeles Clippers forward Josh Smith, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Smith, 30, averaged 12 points and six rebounds in 55 games for Houston last season. Although he has played in 32 games this season, for the Clippers, he did not produce the numbers that they were hoping for.

As wins racked up, the Clippers stuck with Aldrich and Prigioni as regulars in the backup rotation. “We started winning games and you know Josh was great in the locker room, he was great in practices. Cole performed well”, Rivers said. “So, he was a professional”. He played 20 minutes in a January 13 win over Miami and 19 in a loss to Sacramento this past Saturday, but that was because DeAndre Jordan missed those two games with pneumonia.

In return, the Clippers pick up the draft rights to Marty Leunen and Sergei Lishouk.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, The Houston Rockets intend on keeping summer acquisition Ty Lawson past the trade deadline on February 18th.

Nothing has gone to plan for the Rockets during the 2015-16 season.

All of Smith’s averages, apart from a 31 percent mark from 3-point range, were career lows. Smith shot 38 percent from 3-point range in the playoffs for Houston and made a generally positive impact off the bench.
