Watch the full episode of EW Reunites: Gilmore Girls here now on the new People/Entertainment Weekly Network (PEN).
It’s a little unclear why Gilmore Girls is being revived now, but fans have been demanding more since the conclusion of the seventh and final season.
If you haven’t finished the series, stop reading here. The last couple of words in the show came out of nowhere and then the credits filled the screen, leaving me confused.
“We really had a very specific journey in our minds and we fulfilled the journey”, Amy told The Hollywood Reporter about the possibility of more episodes.
Reconnecting with the strength she had before being attacked, Jillian reminds us all that there is nothing we can’t come back from.
Patterson, who plays Luke, jumped in, too. This four part netflix revival goes through the four seasons of a year with the Gilmore Girls. After all, he pushed her to return to Yale in Season 6 and he pushed her write the story of her life with Lorelai in the revival thereby giving her life some kind of meaning. If there’s one thing that made this whole thing worth it, it was hearing Emily Gilmore curse at a bunch of stuffy DAR ladies.
However, in this particular instance, Sherman-Palladino disagrees. The way Sherman-Palladino sees it, it’s Emily’s latest effort to “manipulate her daughter again”.
Yet, A Year in the Life puts a great deal of emphasis on romantic fulfillment and settling down. When it comes to Rory’s love life, questions are the driving force.
The move could drastically alter Rory’s life-which is a pity, since she seems to already be having some trouble getting her life in order in the first place. That boy – either the absence or presence of him – dictates her baby’s future, and therefore dictates Rory’s future.
Clearly, now that we’ve caught up with Rory nine years later, she’s still struggling.
Lauren just published her memoir, Talking As Fast As I Can, and in it, she shares a ton of details about her relationships with her Gilmore Girls castmates. And that would have been a fine justification if she hadn’t made Dean, Jess and Logan Rory’s explicit, enduring guideposts.
In addition to removing all likeable aspects from one of its main characters, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” also deems it necessary to submit viewers to a variety of weird, unnecessary stories. Kirk (Sean Gunn) trying to capitalize on the success of Uber with his own ride-service business around Stars Hollow also feels like a natural, modern-day progression.
Huffington Post reported that “The Gilmore Girls Revival” was not received well by all quarters. Just as Emily Gilmore overbearingly obsessed over Lorelai’s love life, the actress that played her, Kelly Bishop, did the same for Lauren.
“Amy (Sherman-Palladino), her scripts are so smart and there are so many pop-culture references that if you didn’t grow up here and you didn’t speak the language, a lot of it is going to go over your head”.
Below are the best eight theories about those four final words.
We saw a glimpse of reckless Rory in season five of the original series. “They could feel that it was the time to say goodbye”.
Sherman-Palladino says she’s not surprised that the ending left fans wanting more. The final moment of the revival featured Rory telling Lorelai that she’s pregnant. That’s why it’s so hard to accept that she is doomed to repeat Lorelai’s life, even down to the Logan/Christopher and Jess/Luke parallels. Even though it fulfilled what it promised, it didn’t fulfill what we wanted. In order for some viewers to be truly happy, there must be something else created about the Gilmore girls.
We prefer our version.
