Political campaigner Richard Tice, who witnessed the attack and its aftermath, said the way people on Westminster Bridge helped the injured showed the character of the city.

“The attack started when a vehicle was driven over Westminster Bridge, hitting and injuring a number of members of the public, also including three police officers on their way back from a commendation ceremony”.

Peter Kyle has spoken of his horror at yesterday’s terrorist attack outside the Houses of Parliament that left a police officer murdered.

Acting Deputy Commissioner and head of counter terrorism at the Metropolitan Police Mark Rowley said they assumed that the attacker was inspired by worldwide terrorism. It is still our belief – which continues to be borne out by our investigation – that this attacker acted alone and was inspired by global terrorism. Seven were still in critical condition. Speaking in the House of Commons Thursday, May said the man was British-born.

Three French schoolchildren aged 15 or 16 were among those injured in the attack, French officials said.

“We are not afraid and our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism”, May said on Thursday, adding that the security level would remain severe. The Metropolitan Police said at least one man, armed with a knife, continued the attack, trying to enter the Houses of Parliament.

Mrs May confirmed the Met Police’s “working assumption” that the attacker was “inspired by Islamist ideology”. She was on her way to pick up her children from school.

He said: “I would like to express my solidarity with our British friends who have been affected by the attack which occurred outside Parliament, a symbol of democracy, one year after the terror attacks in Brussels”. “Authorities say a small SUV barreled into pedestrians along the sidewalk of Westminster Bridge, causing multiple “catastrophic injuries” to pedestrians”. Both the stabbed officer and the attacker died later from their injuries.

U.S. secretary of State Rex Tillerson also condemned the attack in London and said that the incident was a horrific act of violence.

George Eaton tweeted: “Police have just shot a man who was attacking officers at parliament’s entrance”.

Mayor Sadiq Khan invited Londoners to an evening vigil and promised “business as usual” in the capital. This was epitomised by the announcement, just hours after this sickening attack, that Parliament would sit as normal today in defiance of those that were responsible for these murders.
