Los Angeles Rams, WR Tavon Austin agree to four-year contract extension

Previous year represented his best as a receiver, notching 52 catches for 473 yards and five touchdowns.

As the Rams prepare for their first regular season out of Los Angeles in twenty years, many folks are watching them closely in the preseason – especially Tavon Austin. It’s a new four-year deal that will amount to $42 million and $30 million in guarantees.

Fisher recently had declared Cooper to be one of the Rams’ top three receivers, along with Kenny Britt and Tavon Austin. When looking at other contracts around the NFL, Tavon Austin is making an obscene amount of money compared to what he’s actually worth. Gaines, who missed all of last season with a foot injury, also has dealt with hamstring and ankle injuries during training camp.

The former first round pick and West Virginia star had career highs in receptions (52), yards (473), and touchdowns (5). He set records with the Gamecocks as he became a two-time All-SEC player from 2014-2015.

To that end they made a decision to ensure the first step in that mission by locking up wide receiver Tavon Austin to a contract extension. And at 20 pounds heavier, it’s easy to see why.

The Los Angeles Rams will keep their number one deep threat for at least four more years.

“Awesome. It feels good that I’m still calling this place home – and that’s the main thing”, Austin said in a statement according to LA Times. Cooper had been mostly impressive throughout training camp and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jared Goff in last week’s preseason victory over Kansas City. I’m just really happy for Tavon.
