The unidentified victim was viciously bitten by the canine at a Preston house at around 3.45pm.
A United Kingdom man was mauled to death by his girlfriend’s pitbull while reportedly suffering an epileptic fit. Liam was treated by paramedics at his home on Dundonald street but he died later of his injuries.
Groups of young people have left bunches of flowers outside the property.
The dog was subsequently taken away and put down by vets, police said in a statement.
“The family have asked to be given some privacy as they have been through a truly horrific experience and they are all still very much in shock”. According to earlier reports, it was thought that the pit bull was owned by Hewitson, but police later said they thought it belonged to his girlfriend.
Detective Inspector Jane Webb of Preston CID said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly died. A file will be passed to the coroner in due course”.
And Mizzy B Saeed added: “Tragic news”.
His brother Craig posted: “Love you always my brother”, while another relative called Chantelle added: “Rest In peace little cousin so heartbreaking you with your lovely mum now Liam rest in paradise love you always xxxx”.
Friends and family have been paying their respect to Liam. “Thoughts and prayers with his family (Liam’s neighbour)”.
