“That process is executed by USA marshals because it is a federal loan”.
US Marshals have started arresting people over outstanding federal student loans.
“I never received a notice in the mail”, he said.
He said he spotted a suspicious truck parked outside of his house on Thursday morning, and when an agent approached him, he retreated back into his house in fear. But later that day, the federal government’s heavily armed henchmen showed up in full force. Out of control. What if they had seen a gun on me? “Local PD is just standing there”. “I walk out slowly with my hands up, I’m here, I’m here”, Aker said. We must take him down and when you get me you celebrate as if you’ve take down El Chapo. In Houston alone, marshals say about 1,500 people have been identified for not appearing in court to address their outstanding federal student loans, resulting in arrest warrants.
Aker rightly pointed out that the government’s overzealous debt-collection mission could have ended tragically. He was allegedly told that he will be arrested again if he fails to pay the said amount by March 1.

The U.S. Marshals Service made several attempts to serve Aker with a court order requesting that he appear in federal court and searched numerous known addresses, the agency said in a statement.
Are you behind on your student loans?
Unlike other forms of debt, student loans can not be discharged through bankruptcy by law. The average burden for borrowers is about $35,000. Get in line. About 40 million Americans now have yet to pay back their student loans. It’s something that happens to people every day across the country, not just with student loans but for all types of debts.
The Obama administration has done its best to exacerbate the problem.
Aker says he was taken to a federal courthouse where he was forced to sign a payment plan to repay the loan. Unlike consumer debt, it is extremely unlikely to have student loan debt discharged, even in cases of bankruptcy, meaning the government will follow you around your entire life until the debt is paid off.
