Match Reports: Bournemouth 3-0 Norwich City

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes his January recruits will play an important role in ensuring the club remain in the Premier League this season.

Bournemouth recorded the biggest win of their short Barclays Premier League tenure after cruising to a 3-0 victory against Norwich.

Afobe missed two chances to score on his debut in the midweek defeat to West Ham and looked desperate to make amends as he fired a powerful effort over inside two minutes before linking up with Junior Stanislas, who shot straight at Declan Rudd.

“It is not a comfortable feeling for me as I have been right through the journey, ” said Howe, who was in charge of the south-coast club when they were placed into administration for a second time and handed a transfer embargo eight years ago.

It marked Bournemouth’s seventh goal in the first 15 minutes of a league match, the most of any side this season.

Gosling ghosted unmarked into the Norwich area before Marc Pugh’s pinpoint cross was headed home by the former Everton midfielder.

Cherries appealed in vain for a penalty after Daniels had been grabbed around the waist by Canaries skipper Russell Martin, although referee Robert Madley was unmoved.

“I thought it was a red card at the time, but I’m just happy that we won the game, so it’s all forgotten about”. But the hosts were not to be denied a second as seconds after his header had been cleared off the line by Martin, Pugh was brought down in the box by Odjidja-Ofoe.

The Bournemouth forward took to social media after a huge 3-0 win against the Canaries.

Afobe, in only his second appearance for Bournemouth, then completed the victory when he tapped home a fine cross from Daniels. Eddie Howe’s side will have to be better defensively if they are going to stay up, just three points above the relegation zone the newly promoted side have looked a little rocky in recent weeks.

Charlie Daniels – Turned in an impressive display for Bournemouth as he bombed up and down the left flank.

“Gary has made an error, he has apologised, there is no point harping on about it, so as far as we are concerned, it is done”, said Neil, who has no fresh injury worries but will give full-back Pinto more time to settle after his move from Dinamo Zagreb.

“In my opinion, he should have got their goalkeeper sent off”, Howe told Sky Sports.
