Regarding Bourne’s mental state, Damon revealed that Bourne will be found in a “dark and tortured place” before he resumes his quest for answers about his past.

“There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyberwarfare and civil liberties”, he continued.

Asked how viewers will find Bourne in the new film, Damon pointed to darker elements of current global affairs as having affected his character. Damon, who plays the amnesiac spy said that Bourne will continue to search for details about his past since he has been off the grid since 2004.

Bourne 5 marks the return of Damon’s Jason Bourne after almost a decade away from the screen. Damon exposed earlier this yr in that the tale would take Bourne “through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world”.
