Meek Mill Escaped Jail Time

February 05 20:01 2016

The judge decided not to sentence the Monster rapper to jail after his lawyers argued that more jail time would destroy his career.

Mill must turn himself in for house arrest on March 1, after which point he’ll have to wear an ankle monitor for 90 days, followed by six years on probation, according to the verdict.

Rapper Meek Mill has been sentenced to 90 days of house arrest- and no jail time- in his probation violation case.

This time, the courts have ruled that Mill is going to have to stay put.

Meek also took the stand and broke down as he pleaded for leniency: “I’m not a gangsta”, he declared.

Before the judge issued his sentence, Mill – who has alternately complained about probation and credited the judge with helping him succeed – thanked her repeatedly for giving him a chance, regardless of her decision.

Instead of spitting rhymes, Mill, whose legal name is Robert Williams, must complete charity work with groups serving adults.

He has also been ordered to spend another six years on probation, relating to drug and gun charges from 2008. Hopefully, during his three months of house arrest, Meek can reflect and focus on his music.

Prosectors argued that he violated his parole by making unapproved trips, including one to NY for a concert and several to meet girlfriend Nicki Minaj around the country.
