Megyn Kelly Addresses Her Move to NBC News on The Kelly File

In a Facebook post, Kelly said she was “incredibly enriched for the experiences” she had in a dozen years at Fox News. According to The Wall Street Journal, Kelly’s contract with the network is set to expire in 2017.

Kelly will become anchor of a new one hour daytime program that she will develop closely with NBC News colleagues. The show is going to air from Monday through Friday.

So, she’s moving onward and upward in the newscast world, leaving Fox News’ second-most-watched program and arriving at NBC where she is preparing to take the helm of a variety of programs.

Kelly will also be used as an analyst on breaking news and big events such as political debates, giving her a big presence on NBC.

One of Fox News Channel’s biggest on-air talents, Megyn Kelly, is joining NBC News.

Her schedule at Fox, where she hosted a daily news show at 9pm USA eastern time, made that impossible. Trump responded by later calling Kelly a “lightweight“, a “bimbo“, and by making a menstruation joke, saying Kelly had “blood coming out of her whatever”. Robin Roberts, a host of ABC’s Good Morning America, is now the highest-paid female news anchor, with a salary of $18 million a year (still less than Matt Lauer’s $25 million for hosting Today and Bill O’Reilly’s $18.5 million for The O’Reilly Factor).

On Tuesday, back in NY, word broke that Megyn Kelly will also be breaking off her own dozen-year relationship with the mogul and stepping away from Fox News, the Murdoch-owned network.

He also said: “If somebody is paying you a wage, you owe that person or company allegiance”. That autobiography, by the way, was released to a stream of one-star reviews on Amazon thanks to a campaign from Trump fans.

She acted with poise during the sex-abuse allegations that ended Roger Ailes’ reign at Fox News.

The Sunday night primetime newsmagazine Kelly will host will focus more on hard news. Sandra Smith and Martha McCallum have filled in on The Kelly File. Kelly and her representatives also held talks with CNN and ABC, among other potential outlets, before deciding on NBC.

Kelly has consistently delivered top ratings while maintaining a uniquely strong connection with her viewers and an important voice on social media.

“The challenge she faces is the same as any of the greats when they switched networks”, said Jonathan Klein, co-founder of TAPP Media and former president of United States operations for CNN. Kelly has become a major star through her dealings with Donald Trump.
