Memo shows Bill Clinton’s wealth was tied to Clinton Foundation

November 02 00:00 2016

“The Clinton Foundation discloses its donors online and all of Hillary and Bill Clinton’s income has been disclosed publicly in almost 40 years of tax returns and her personal financial disclosure forms, so none of the relationships being reported today are new”.

Thursday’s trip was made possible by WikiLeaks, which released a 2011 memo written by Bill Clinton aide Doug Band regarding his consulting firm’s aggressive maneuvers to direct corporate money to the Clinton Foundation and the former president himself.

“We have, in effect, served as agents, lawyers, managers and implementers”, Band wrote in the email, while acknowledging the “unorthodox nature” of the arrangement. But neither he nor the Clinton campaign has challenged their authenticity.

Chelsea Clinton’s complaints and audit helped push the foundation to create new policies regarding outside consulting work and compartmentalizing Bill Clinton’s charity and moneymaking work, according to the Washington Post.

In an email on January 22, 2016, Erika Gudmundson, with Chelsea Clinton’s office, discusses ways that the campaign could help Chelsea Clinton draw distinctions between her mother and Bernie Sanders as the campaign grew more competitive.

However, Clinton’s State Department Chief of Staff, Cheryl Mills, is one of those addressed by the memo in her capacity as member of the Clinton Foundation board.

Leaked emails also suggest the Clintons made millions off their foundation.

Band denied profiting personally from these deals (apart from all the high-priced business he got from his Clinton connection, that is).

Conflicts of interest between Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, as well as the former president’s “for profit” activities and acceptance of “expensive gifts” have been revealed in WikiLeaks’ Podesta emails. He announced on Instagram Thursday that he would be releasing a t-shirt with the full email printed on it called the “I Don’t Check Messages Tee”.

A Dow spokesperson told MLive that the company’s participation and engagement with the Clinton Global Initiative dates back to 2007 and is “well aligned to core business and citizenship strategies that have positively leveraged the resources and capabilities of our company”.

The scene captures Americans’ fatigue and anger with what they see as an untrustworthy, reprobate political enterprise, led by President Obama and Clinton.

Band drafted the memo to the law firm of Simpson Thacher, which had been called in to conduct an internal review of the Clinton Foundation’s operations, in an effort to refute the charge of profiteering.

The NEA ultimately endorsed Clinton in October 2015 despite some complaints that leaders hadn’t taken Sanders seriously enough and should have waited.

“So much of what he said is not right, but he gets to run his campaign any way he chooses”, Hillary Clinton responded. Band also says he personally “negotiated a fee for President Clinton of $1 million dollars to speak for two one-hour sessions in Hong Kong” to mobile phone maker Ericson, noting that he also “negotiated additional coverage of the cost of a private plane”.

“Bill Clinton was abusive to women”. Other documents published by WikiLeaks show several of Clinton’s closest aides could not find any good reason for her decision to use a private server during her tenure as secretary of state.

“I don’t think anything Secretary Clinton has said about Vladimir Putin is untrue and I also don’t believe that on this basis we can’t continue to have a relationship with Russian Federation over time“, he told reporters in a conference call organized by her campaign.
