Xavier Smith competed in the quarterfinals of the 100-meters just missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships by one one-hundredth of a second (0.01) running 10.41 seconds. Both added their second All-America finishes for the meet – Herl won the hammer throw Thursday with Dendinger runner-up. In the outdoor season, Borofski was named to the All-East Region team in the 1500-meter run and the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Senior Rose Jackson was NDSU’s third qualifier of the day, clinching her first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a leap of 20-09.25 (6.33m) on her final attempt in the long jump. The NCAA East Regional is being hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
Holmes has been logging big jumps all year, his PR of 2.20 meters giving him the eighth seed overall in his first regional meet. She finished fourth in her heat in 2:09.46.
The men’s 400 meters will take place on Thursday, May 25 at 7:45 p.m.
