Mets suspend Matt Harvey for undisclosed violation of team rules

Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera could return to the starting lineup Wednesday after a quick recovery from an injured left thumb. The Mets also claimed lefty Tommy Milone off waivers from Milwaukee – he was 1-0 with one save and a 6.43 ERA. Harvey’s suspension technically began Saturday, according to the team, meaning he could pitch as soon as Tuesday against the Giants. “He was in quite a bit of pain on the field”. If Cabrera is sidelined for a long period, NY could bring up 21-year-old shortstop Amed Rosario from Triple-A Las Vegas.

“I’m hoping he’s back (Monday), but he’s still got some soreness there”. “In every occasion I’ve been a part of, a guy has come back and he’s learned his lesson and we’ve moved on. You learn how to stay focused”.
