Microsoft, Facebook gear up for new battle on DACA program

Foremost in the debate over President Donald Trump’s decision to end DACA, the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, is the fate of the roughly 700,000 young undocumented immigrants now enrolled in the program, who could lose their ability to work and study in what for many is the only home they’ve ever known without fear of deportation if Congress doesn’t act by March 5. They should have that opportunity to do so and earn their way forward.

It was the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, that lifted her out of despair and inferiority.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a program that allows children under 16 who came to America and have lived here continuously since 2007 to remain without threat of arrest or deportation simply because they were born in another country.

As a result, it’s likely that some people who could apply for DACA renewal before the program expires won’t, in fact, be able to do so. For years, lawmakers have been trying to enact a reform that fixes a broken system and acknowledges the reality of the role undocumented immigrants already play in the US economy and in American communities. But that might only buy more time before the revocation goes into effect instead of permanently reinstating DACA, Gulasekaram said. “DACA changed my life”, Dominguez told media on Wednesday.

In the House, 23 incumbent Republicans represent districts that were won in 2016 by Democrat Hillary Clinton, who campaigned on a much more pro-immigration policy than Trump.

President Trump gave these folks two years or more to wind down their lives and return to their home countries”, he said.

The lawsuit was filed in the Eastern District of ny. NBC’s Chuck Todd challenged Feinstein on the program’s legality, and she noted that 10 state attorneys general had prepared lawsuits against the program.

“Dreamers play by the rules”. We are proud of the contribution that they make to our American tapestry.

He said the 42,000 New Yorkers with protected status under the program are largely model citizens.

Sen. Susan Collins said Tuesday she did not see how Congress could both authorize the DACA program and do a comprehensive immigration overhaul in six months.

He said that 42,000 New Yorkers participate in DACA, and the end of the programme will be “devastating” for them and would cause “huge economic harm” to the state.

“He said 87 percent of the almost 6,000 DACA recipients in Pennsylvania are employed, generating more than $20 million in state and local taxes”. And it would also ignore the millions of people around the world who are waiting in line to come here legally.

In the video, Zuckerberg expressed concern about White House’s latest move.

“To know directly from the CEOs that they’re the ones saying they support it and why they feel it’s important, that’s never happened before – not to the extent that it’s happening now”, said Elizabeth Vilchis, a dreamer who works at Samsung Electronics Co.’s NEXT startup investment unit.

In response to the Trump administration’s rhetoric regarding undocumented families and students, Newark Public Schools Superintendent Christopher Cerf in the spring released a letter to all NPS families, assuring all undocumented families that their right to a public education in Newark would not be affected by recent political events. DACA did not provide such a path.

“No mixed signal at all”, Trump said.

The fifteen states that sued on Wednesday did not include California – a solidly Democratic state with a large immigrant population. Sessions and other critics of DACA say it is unconstitutional because former president Barack Obama created it by an executive action, rather than leaving the decision to legislators.
