Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, unveils the Xbox One X at E3 in Los Angeles.
Xbox One X has been designed to be the best console to create and play games on, with true 4K graphic fidelity.
There wasn’t a single mention of the feature on stage, despite the company formerly announcing that Xbox One X would support VR headsets when the console was announced a year ago (then called Project Scorpio).
That said, they did still show off a ton of enticing new games, and while you might not be left rushing to pre-order the next Xbox console, at least Microsoft appears to be keenly focusing on ambitious and impressive new games right now. The Xbox One X will only hit the markets in November for $499 ( or approx Rs 32,159). The Forza Motorsport 7 will launch on October 3. The exclusive reveals Microsoft did get were all pretty huge too, with Anthem, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Metro Exodus all looking like excellent games. The console’s processor also features a liquid-cooled vapour chamber, a cooling technology that is used on high-end PC graphics cards like the NVIDIA GTX 1080. Hopefully Rare’s latest can make it out to us before the next E3.
Sony isn’t just killing it on the first party front either, until now, there has always been a wealth of content available from third party games such as Destiny and Call of Duty receiving DLC first on Sony’s platform. You’ve also got the option of going down to 1440p if you want to turn up some graphical settings, as 1440p is still a big upgrade from 1080p. In August, the Better Together update will land and unify the game across almost every platform, from iOS and Android to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The Xbox One X, it has now come to light, will look a lot like Microsoft’s incumbent Xbox One S console, and will start shipping world-wide on November 7 later this year. And many, of course, will simply choose to leave their games as-is.
A total of 22 launch exclusives will arrive on Xbox One X in the near future.
Microsoft has also improved the memory provision in the Xbox One X, while ensuring that it is delivered at a far faster speed than in the previous generation. Speaking of the TV, if you’re considering this console, we hope you have a 4K HDR TV to match. The short gameplay sequence showed off some of the new RPG elements coming to the series as well as a brief look at the new Witcher-like inventory system.
Microsoft claims that this machine allows them to run games at native 4k resolutions while the PS4 Pro only has enough grunt for doubling the pixel count to 2k and letting checkerboard rendering do the rest. However, the X comes up short on the gaming front, and this is exactly what matters most in a games console.
There’s no concrete word on price or release date, but hopefully Hyperkin will have more to share soon. The Last Night is a lovely pixelated game that reminds us of the Blade Runner world and shows tremendous promise. The new console will also be compatible with older Xbox games and accessories.
