Microsoft Says Skype Now Has Group Video Call On Mobile

Once it’s live, the update will allow Skype users to make video calls with as many as 25 participants for free.

As far as the app’s calendar feature is concerned, it also got updated in order to meet professional and personal needs and managing it accordingly.

“We’ll use your information to set you up with group video calling on your mobile and will send you an email when we’re done”, reads the message after you have registered.

Skype is offering the service for free as a way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the video calling service, which has amassed two trillion minutes of video.

Apart from the Skype integration, Outlook’s calendar view has been significantly improved as well, with integrated Sunrise Calendar features and the ability to view a quick side-by-side look at any three days on the calendar. “Since then, Skype video calling has been used in truly incredible ways”.

The group video calling feature is subject to some rules, at least on the desktop.

To join the Skype call, users need Skype on the desktop, in a Web browser or in the form of the various Skype mobile apps.

Since Skype Translator’s launch as a preview one year ago, calls using the feature have increased 400 percent, according to Skype.

“We’ll be rolling out this new feature to our hundreds of millions of mobile users in the coming weeks”, said Skype.

By offering group video chat, Skype puts more distance between itself and Apple’s Facetime.

Outlook now lets users add a Skype Call to an event through the app’s Skype Call toggle.

This preview is in line with Skype’s recent moves to make starting calls even easier. In fact, signing in with a Microsoft account or Skype name is not required: Anyone can join a call as a guest from a computer.
