The Reyes case isn’t the only domestic violence matter shadowing baseball as teams gather for Spring Training.

According to a statement released by the commissioner’s office on Tuesday, Rob Manfred will decide following the completion of the investigation whether to enforce further discipline on Reyes.

Reyes will be kept away from baseball activities until the criminal trial-including his scheduled Opening Day court date-can be resolved, at which point Major League Baseball will work to determine any applicable suspension beyond this leave.

“I never hurt anybody, never in my life”, Chapman, who is not facing criminal charges, told reporters at the Yankees’ Spring Training facility in Florida.

The domestic violence policy, titled “Major League Baseball’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy”, was put in place a year ago after getting an agreement from the players’ union.

“We are closely monitoring the proceedings in Hawaii, as well as the Commissioner’s actions under the Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy”. Reyes was acquired last July from Toronto in the trade that sent Colorado cornerstone Troy Tulowitzki to the Blue Jays.

Reyes will be turning 33 in June and his career has been spiraling down hill ever since leaving NY after the 2011 season.

Prosecutors declined to file charges.
