A hazardous weather outlook alert for St. Lawrence County is in effect beginning Sunday, warning of strong wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour starting Sunday morning in southern parts of the county, and continuing at 35 to 45 miles per hour through Sunday night across the county, according to the National Weather Service.

Today: A chance of rain showers before 5 p.m., then rain and snow showers likely.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of rain before 10pm. A mix of rain and freezing rain is possible early this afternoon before mild temperatures help transition all precipitation to just rain by this evening. The chance of precipitation is predicted to drop from 60 percent to 30 percent through the night. Heavier bursts of snow showers may overcome this at times and lead to slushy accumulations on a few roads, but the main travel issues Sunday morning may be after most of the snow exits as temperatures plunge into the 20s, creating some slick spots on previously wet roads.

Monday night, lows in the teens are expected.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies continue with an overnight low temperature of 16 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10-25mph. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

This system does not have very much moisture to work with, so snow accumulations will remain light. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Sunday will have clearer skies but as high pressure builds in northerly cool air will put the chill on Alabama. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Rain moving back in Saturday night ahead of cold air
