Nagaland CM wins by over 5000 votes

Mamata Banerjee, who recently said she would be happy if the CPI (M) would win the Assembly Elections in Tripura, revealed that she gave an offer to Congress President Rahul Gandhi of an alliance and seat-sharing which was rejected.

The BJP-IPFT combine scripted history as the combine won 43 seats.

Indeed the Modi-Shah combination has been successful in terminating the CPI-M in Tripura, the last surviving bastion for the Left if Kerala is discounted considering the trends of the voters who bring alternative party in power in every election in India’s southern most state.

The Left has ruled Tripura for the past 25 years and Manik Sarkar, 69, was chief minister for 20 of them.

Elections in the three northeastern states – Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya – were held in February with results announced Saturday.

He added that BJP might have a clear majority in Tripura but “we will also include other members of our alliance in the cabinet”.

Nagaland Chief Minister and Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) candidate T R Zeliang retained his Peren constituency today defeating his nearest NDPP rival Iherie Ndang by 5,432 votes, EC sources said.

It is significant that BJP contested Tripura elections on local issues and ignored its “Hindutava” plank in the campaign.

“The Congress party will be virtually left with only one Chief Minister in Puducherry in the country after they will be defeated in Karnataka in June 2018″. The BJP won two seats, while the Congress won 19 and is ahead in two. He said, “The welfare of Meghalaya is of utmost importance for us”.

It was an optimum combination of PM Modi’s focus on Vikas, Vikas, Vikas, coupled with restructured organisational focus of BJP president Amit Shah on intermingling with the common masses and identifying with them, Minister of State in the Prime Minister s Office said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, on the other hand, made massive gains and emerged the victor, in alliance with a regional tribal outfit, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura.

He said his party’s historic victory in Tripura is “as much an ideological one”.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in a court submission this week said that it would not take a decision on terminating the work authorisation of H4 visa users, spouses of H-1B visa holders, till June as it needs time to review the economic impact of such a decision.

Perhaps the sweetest victory for the BJP is the decisive mandate it received in Tripura.

Meghalaya appeared set to have a hung Assembly. BJP was able to consolidate all the anti-Left votes virtually appropriating the erstwhile main opposition, Congress. “The BJP has two ministers in my cabinet”, he told NDTv.

Despite emerging as the single-largest party in both Goa and Manipur, the Congress was caught napping as BJP managed to form the government getting on board smaller parties and independents.
